Board and Committee Openings

Volunteer Opportunities

The Select Board welcomes residents who have an interest in serving on the Town’s various Committees/Boards. Please complete our Talent Bank Application.

Letters of interest will be forwarded to the appropriate appointing authority. Please e-mail or call the Board or Committee's respective contact if you would like more information on a vacancy prior to submitting an application.

Current Select Board Appointment Vacancies

  • Board of Trust Fund Commissioners
    • Appointed by the Select Board.
    • Composed of three members with terms expiring on a rotating three-year basis. 
    • Meetings throughout the year on an as-needed basis.
    • Current openings: 2 Members.

  • Council on Aging Advisory Board
    • Appointed by the Select Board.
    • This seven Member Board typically meets once a month.
    • Current openings: 1 Member.

  • Master Plan Implementation Committee
    • 2 Citizen At Large Members Appointed by the Select Board.
    • This Committee meets as necessary throughout the year.
    • Current openings: 1 Citizen at Large.

  • MBTA Advisory Board
    • Appointed by the Select Board.
    • The MBTA  Advisory Board plays a key role in the allocation of federal funds for MBTA capital-related projects.
    • Current openings: 1 Hanover Representative.

  • Planning Board Associate Member
    • Appointed by the Select Board [General Bylaws 4-9(2)].
    • Composed of five elected  Regular Members and two Select Board appointed Associate Members.
    • The Board typically meets twice a month on Monday nights.
    • Current openings: 1  Associate Member.

  • Route 139 Action Committee
    • Appointed by the Select Board.
    • This Seven Member Committee typically meets once a month.
    • Current openings: 2 Members.

  • School Committee
    • Joint appointment of the Select Board and School Committee for a term that will run until the next Annual Town Election in May of 2025.
    • This Five Member Board typically meets twice a month.
    • Current openings: 1 Member
    • Talent Bank Applications shall be accepted until June 21st.  Interviews via Zoom shall take place at a joint meeting of the Select Board and School Committee on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 7:00pm.  A  vote on the successful applicant shall take place at a joint meeting of the Select Board and School Committee on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 7:30pm.

  • Zoning Board of Appeals
    • Appointed by the Select Board.
    • Composed of three regular members and three associate members with terms expiring on a rotating three-year basis. 
    • Meetings throughout the year on an as-needed basis.
    • Current openings: 1 Associate Member.
