Safety Tips

Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. If possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

Pet Safety

With high temperatures, please leave your dogs and pets at home, where it is nice and cool, whenever possible. Don’t bring them out in your cars or take them for walks. Remember that the inside of a car can heat up to well over 100°F in just a few moments, even with the windows cracked, when it's this hot out. Pets can suffer needlessly and could die when left in a car, even on a moderately hot day.
